The Walking Dead: Episode 2 Release Date
Having previously written about this game, and exclaiming I had not played the actual game, but rather the demo I decided to afterwards go and actually purchase the game for myself. Episode 1 is well worth the 400 Microsoft points I spent. I managed to finish it in one sitting, and it was awesome. I love games where your choices and decisions make an actual difference in the outcome of things.
But, what about episode 2? When is it going to release? It’s been previously stated that the episodes will be released monthly in accordance to the last so May 27th should be the big day! If I’m wrong feel free to leave me hate-mail for getting your hopes up. However, what do we have to look forward to in the next episode? If you’ve played the game then you’ve already seen this. If you haven’t then maybe this will prompt you to purchase both episodes. Click Here to watch the preview for episode 2.
Now, having seen the preview it becomes obvious we run into more than just a few new faces. This will make for an interesting episode in my opinion, and I definitely can’t wait to play it for myself. What are your opinions on The Walking Dead Game? Let us know in the comments below!
**UPDATE**
It appears that May 27th is not the date, and the second episode is apparently slated for June 2012.

I thought the first episode came out on May 28th? Maybe not. Either way, I’m enjoying the game far more than the TV series; the story does actually change quite a bit depending on your choices, and all of the characters are fairly well fleshed out. Definitely worth a full season pass, imo.
Haha actually I went to the walking dead wikipedia and discovered it was released on the 27th of April so it’s been changed in the article as well.
No It Was The 26th Wasnt It
Wait, according to my sources, I’m pretty sure that it came out on the 27th right?
You’re all wrong it came out the 25th come on guys.
Dude it totally came out on the 29th man, I was there!!
how did anyone like this?? im sorry, i love the walking dead so much, but the story wasnt anything all that special too me as far as zombie stuff goes, and calling it a game is too much of a stretch for me. it was a long mediocre cutscene where you get to press a couple buttons here and there.
Dude…it was 5 bucks what did you honestly expect…if you follow the series and the walking dead graphic novel you should be happy with the way they provide back story…Tell tale is about problem solving and storyline…It is a choose your own adventure story book slash stategy game…I am sure you didn’t like Heavy Rain…which was prolly the best game released in the last few years…this game style is as throwback as it is new…and I applaud telltale and as a Walking dead follower since the Comics I think it is great…Love the cell shading the interweaving storylines and I look forward to the rest of the series…
Hey guys, I’ve read the forum by 1 of the moderators of TWD, and they’ve said that it would MOST likely be released on Tuesday, 29 March. Refer to the forum by clicking the link below.
http://www.telltalegames.com/forums/showthread.php?t=29766
They have stated it would release sometime in June, but no specific date. If Back to the FUture is any indication i would say later June than early June
Episode 1:
April 24, 2012: PC, Mac, PSN
April 27, 2012: XBLA
and episode 2 comes out in june http://youtu.be/d8xhtpTpiUA watch it to the end
are you people fucking serious?
I looked it up on Wikipedia and they say that it will be coming out to PC on Today……
it was released on the 26th on steam…
released on steam on 26th.. if thats so why am i not able to download it and then when i try to find out when the real release date is it says 30th. but still cant find anywhere to get this. can you tell me know the hell you grabbed it on steam the 26th
?
He lied
Well, I just check on steam and as of the 26/5/2012 7:05 pm (GMT) Episode 2 has yet to be released on Steam, thanx for pointlessly raising my hopes you Dicks.
what he said.
must… have… episode 2… :-p
Wikipedia is saying May 30th
Because a Wiki that everyone and anyone can change is completely factual.
it is not out. it is the 30th.
its the 30th… where is the F*******g game?
yup its the 30th and its still not out yet. Telltale games says episode 2 will be out some time next year
It might be added tommorow…
Guys, It will come soon. Maybe tommorow…
hi i like robert kirkman he made the game :3
I too am a big fan of Kirkman, he writes the comics and they come out on time! It’s Teltale that need to get their act together.
hi, you are wrong about the release date as i am not playing it right now. Hate mail complete.
its not out till june http://youtu.be/d8xhtpTpiUA if u watch it to the end it says out june
june 1st still not out
i say between june 3rd till 8th for sure
these devs need to commit to a date. Ridiculous to have people pay ahead of time, and then leave them guessing as to when it comes out. Don’t say a new one every month and then don’t come through. This is like the psn outage.
Let me ask you, would you rather a game be on time and be rushed or have them push it back a week or two and fix a few bugs and problems they wfound close to launch date? what do you want? on time and rushes or delayed and well built?
if what i heard is correct, That is not why the game is delayed at all.
and what did you hear?
I would rather be notified of any delay, considering I paid good cash money for all 5 episodes up front. They promised me I’d only wait 30 days. Considering the rumor about E3, the 10th is tomorrow. After that I may be vieing for a refund. This is outrageous. However, I agree with others, if we were given a reason for the delay (beyond “we’re waiting for E3″) I could handle it. The silence, though is deafening, and speaks volumes about this company. They either don’t care what their fans think, misjudged the amount of time necessary to prepare episode 2, or have had major problems and are scared to inform us about them. Major problems (and misjudgment) alone tell a lot about this company. Maybe they were over-confident (totally cool, yet unprofessional). Whatever the reason, more than a few of us are disappointed, and loosing our faith every day that passes. They’ve given us a second deadline (tomorrow). Can we get more than a promise this time?
I think most of us would not mind when it came out as long as they posted the date. To have people just wondering when it will publish is probably the real stress factor here for everyone. But everyone has to admit the quality of the game is the more important factor in the decision to play.
Wtf I have been waiting for the next episode ever sends I finished the first one and pay money to wait it would be fine if it was actually a month from the last one but now that has passed and no one know only that its June
i’d say by 15th June at the latest
I agree with many of these comments…Yes developers who advertise a release date should stick to it especially if they advertise that a game/episode will be released on a specific date.
What annoys me the most is that Telltale games have charged customers who paid for all the episodes yet won’t officially comment on the delay of epsiode 2. I personally feel that this is unprofessional and a big F@#% you to people who have purchased the content.
Ultimately if I have to wait for a game that is of a better quality that is fine..I have no issues with waiting…but really Telltale Games inform your customers of the delays and give some information on a possible release date. I believe the silence is more frustrating than anything else.
yes! the silence is the worst part. i wish they would tell us what the hell they are doing.
I don’t mind waiting if I have a scheduled release date to look forward to. It worry’s me that these episode releases may be ad hoc and unstructured. In my profession I have to have routine supervision sessions if these were ad hoc I would question my supervisors leadership skills and their value for me as an employee. I would loose confidence in them and the success of the company.
TV shows and comic episodes are released with a formulaic structure. If games are to have an episodic style they should also be consistent. This gives the customers confidence in the games franchise and makes them feel valued as fans. To say you will have the game when it’s ready is fine if it’s a stand alone game but not good enough if the game is part of an episodic series. I think that this can put people of episodic gaming particular considering it is a new concept and many were sceptical of the success of episodic gaming to begin with. Some may believe that Telltale were over ambitious with the game and over shot, failing to deliver what was promised in the way that Shenmue started ambitiously but failed to continue the series due to obstacles the gamers were not privy to. Good communication goes a long way and thats what I think is needed.
I’ve seen many post stick up for Telltale and make excuses for them saying that this is how they always do games and how they take a month of after opening episodes, etc. This is not at all true as episode 2 of Back to the future came out on time, during the following month of the first episode. Telltale are an established successful industry they don’t need to be defended by fans. We support them by spending our money on their products. It’s not defending that is needed it’s answers. I’m sure we would all be more understanding if we had an idea of what was holding up the game.
Heard something about it hasn’t been released because of the live event, E3 And will be released sometime in the next five days. June 5th – June 10th
I hate to be a grammar/spelling troll, but seriously guys it’s spelled LOSE or LOSING. Not a tough one, and it’s not like I’m pointing a semi-colon or something. It’s a 2nd grade word. I love all the comments, and agree the silence and lack of professionalism is frustrating (at least EA had sense to just pull NBA Elite and tell us why), but it hurts my brain every time I see loose in place of lose.
lol i agree i was about to loose my mind lmao>>>
ok the 6th is finally here, yet no episode 2. E3 is no longer an excuse. Cmon Telltale, no wonder this is your first time selling games<— got that from a quote from telltale about the game via wikipedia. i know that there is no 100% there but still, this is some major BS
Telltale has plenty of other games before this one. Just go on their ACTUAL website instead of wikipedia and figure that out.
I agree with Paul Bell. I paid in full and have been waiting for episode 2 to no avail with no info. Gaming companies are getting worse and worse about lack of info and buggy releases
HOLY SHIT
Paul Bell has said EVERYTHING I WOULD HAVE SAID so get your priorities right and speak?
tell us WHEN this release date is and no keeping us in the dark
Hey, can you please answer the poll in the sidebar.
i’m disapointed, the game is too short, and or separeted episodes, and waiting, that is to booring to me..
I realy hope, the release date will be come soon…
That piss me off, i bought a game with written release dates and the episodes arent release at the date hey deserve!!!! WTF, last time i buy games from them and ill tell this to all the people i know!
Hell today is june 12, 2012 and episode 2 still ain’t came out. what the hell man
Don’t buy the game, pirate the shit out of it cause they cant stick to their dates. Show them what happens when they don’t follow their release dates.
I rather wait to play a good game than to play buggy unfinished game…
The problem is they announced it would be released May 27th. If they specifically advertise that and don’t follow up with the release, at the very least, they should announce something to compensate for the fact that it wasn’t released the day they planned it to be.
Yeah! Like Lenny said! Motivate them to upkeep a really awesome game by pirating it! That’ll show them! Give me a break. Lenny, keep idiotic thoughts to yourself. I can understand frustration over this but that is no solution. Perhaps telltale wants us to occupy a life instead of bobbing our heads waiting for a game to release. It’s all quite ridiculous to hear everyone complain about something that should be low on our priorities. Chill out, and realize you could be spending your time doing something more worthwhile than complaining about a game to release on the internet. Likewise for me complaining about you guys complaining. Let’s all get lives together!
i enjoyed the first episode and stupidly bought the season pass but waiting a month at a time for each episode for a game that lets face it cant of taken that long to make is a pain in the ass but for it to be delayed on top of all this is a fucking joke so if you havent bought or played this yet dont bother because its not worth the hassle.
The masses are growing restless for episode 2. It’s been seven weeks since episode one. Where the HELL is episode two?
The walking dead game is great and it was my first and last purchase from Telltale. They just dont appreciate there customers.
They shouldn’t say that they’re gonna release monthly if they can’t do it. This is getting stupid now. They can’t even give us a new release date.
Yes, this is quite ridiculous I must say. So instead of buying individual episode every 2 months, I might just wait until all of the episode are released. If I purchase any others at all. But by then there will be other games to buy, so I can see TTG losing a bit of revenue on this one. Why didn’t they just make the game a whole in the first place? I can’t be bothered to wait 2 months for a couple of hours of gameplay.
TTG always makes games in episodes. It’s what makes them different. And this is normal for TTG, the always release the second episode after two months, and then continue with their normally scheduled one month releases.
Last I heard, they said it’d be out before the end of June. Problems with the certification process with xbox is the reason for the delay, and they say they are trying their hardest to get it out any day now. I’m use to waiting monthly for something awesome, as I have been reading the comics for the last year. Robert Kirkman has had a few delays himself… sometimes stuff happens and you can’t get things done and out when they were intended to be. (like having trouble with certification on xbox). I do however wish that they would make more public announcements during the process, but they’re busy trying to get out an awesome second episode! Personally I’d rather wait a few more weeks and have them come out with a really great game, then have them rushing around trying to make a deadline and come out with a half-assed game. Which is another reason they don’t want to throw out a release date.. they don’t want the pressure of having to finish it by a set date, and if for some reason they miss the date again, they’d have even more pissed off customers. Just hang in there guys, they’re doing they’re best! Hopefully they really can get it out before the end of this month!
I’ve heard, from a loyal TellTale customer, that they usually take longer than a month between 1st and 2nd episodes, but that after that the episodes are released on time. Just be patient, young grasshoppers, and find something better to do with your time for now than crying about a video game!
I say they should give all of us who bought the whole package a free game like Back to the Future or something. That would of made since instead of having disgruntled customers!!!
you all have to realize that you cant rely on a date to happen from a rumor. if a game is late, its because they lack workers, the bugs in the game, or how big the game is to find any errors in the first place. games that are late are the ones that must be difficult to make and have to rely on the customers patiences… would you have a game that is so bugged and glitchy that you just want to take the game and throw it out the window in frustration, or would you rather have a game that is late and 100 percent perfect and you can injoy playing over and over and over? its late by one month, must be cause the gamers lack workers or the game is so big it has alot of bugs and glitches and if your paying 20 dollars or more for a episode they want the game to be perfect for you…
dont rely on rumors and what the date will be.. the game probably takes months to make, they need advertisement for the game people to sell their products and then it goes on shelves or to you personally. so expect a game to be 3 months, cause games like that take that long. just keep checking on the news and your e-mails and before you know it, the game will arrive.. so make sure you say thankyou and injoy the game… its all about the patiences.. play a different game you have while you wait.. before you know it, the game arrives and you can play all night and all day and be happy….
You are an idiot. I came to this page looking for the fucking date, as advertised, and wind up having to wade through another blog, written by a self important net-tard, and at the end there is no date!!
So I just purchased the game with the season pass today and downloaded all the episodes at the Playstation store. I played the first episode and thought I’d be able to jump right into the second episode seeing how I’ve been reading these comments about the release date of episode 2 being in May then June and here it being December 2012 and I’m still getting the message coming soon on the game. Does anyone know if it was released yet or not and if not will it ever be released?
Never Mind! It works now. Seems I needed to back out of the game first to work because when I did and got back on then was I given the option to download.
