Nintendo into Brand New and Classic Nintendo Franchises
Satoru Iwata revealed to investors the work he and Shigeru Miyamoto are taking for Wii U.
When many wondered why key franchises were absent form E3 last week, when it seems that Nintendo needs as much power on Wii U from day one. Now Satoru Iwata has shared some light on what they seem to plan, in a Investors Q&A.
“First, what we’ve shown at the E3 show are both the launch titles that will be released with Wii U hardware this holiday season and the launch window titles that will be released early next year or not long after the hardware launch.”
“We do have ideas of what kind of software we will be releasing after those two periods, and Mr. Miyamoto as well as I are both directly involved in the development process. Those include both our traditional franchises and of course new propositions as well.”
“However, because we are now in the era when similar proposals can be made by the others just one year after we introduced a brand-new hardware system proposal, please understand that we really can’t say much about what else we are planning.”
Now what this seems is that Nintendo is planning the period of time after their so called “launch line-up” and “launch window”. Remember that the 3DS launch window was a very hard time for Nintendo and they looked very unprepared, with Ocarina of Time not ready neither Star Fox or Super Mario 3D Land.
The interesting part also is those “traditional franchises and of course new propositions as well” being the work of Miyamoto and Iwata himself. As we know Iwata is a game developer himself and the unmentioned co-creator of Kirby alongside Masahiro Sakurai.
What Nintendo franchises do you want to see on the Wii U? Also “new propositions“, thoughts and comments always accepted.
